Term 4 Week 5
Choices
One of the greatest gifts we and our children have is that we have choices.
The challenge for us is, of course, to choose and to teach our children to choose wisely.
“God asks no one whether he will accept life. This is not the choice. The only choice you have as you go through life is how you will live it.”
- Bernard Meltzer
“No man need stay the way he is.”
- Harry Emerson Fosdick (1878–1969)
“One’s philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes. . . . In the long run, we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.”
- Eleanor Roosevelt (1884–1962)
“You can’t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.”
- Evan Esar
Choose to love — rather than hate
Choose to smile — rather than frown
Choose to build — rather than destroy
Choose to persevere — rather than quit
Choose to praise — rather than gossip
Choose to heal — rather than wound
Choose to give — rather than grasp
Choose to act — rather than delay
Choose to forgive — rather than curse
Choose to pray — rather than despair.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.”
- Psalm 111:10
